Invasive Health Screenings

Invasive screenings are conducted using a venipuncture (blood drawn from a vein in the arm). Through strategic alliances with national diagnostic laboratories, Summit Health is able to offer over 1,000 diagnostic tests on blood and urine samples. Published reports document that fingersticks are more painful than venipunctures due to fact that the finger has more nerves than the arm.

Venipuncture diagnostic lab results are more accurate and provide for a significantly larger number of test options than non-invasive tests. Interpretive risk analysis is available within two weeks after the event via a comprehensive report mailed to the patient. Prior to the report being mailed to the patient, a Physician reviews each individual's laboratory results. In the event an individual's result is significantly out of range, a Summit Health representative will contact the patient directly to review the result and answer questions.

The comprehensive report mailed to the patient shows the actual laboratory results and an interpretation of the results.

Summit Health's base venipuncture screenings are identified below. Additional screenings are available upon request.
