Medical Diagnosis

Conveniently located within a corporation or retail store, the Wellness Center & Clinic is designed to perform the functions of an "express medical office", while Nurse Practitioners evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe for client symptoms. Nurse Practitioners have a four-year degree and a two-year master's degree in nursing allowing the authority to issue prescriptions to patients. All clinics will have a doctor available for phone consultation during operating hours.

The diagnosis will be determined using rules-based treatment that yields unambiguous results. Out-of-Scope conditions will be referred to physicians, clinics and /or hospitals. Common ailments will include:

Strep Throat Ear Infection Sinus Infection Flu Poison Ivy Pink Eye and Styes Bronchitis

Allergies Mononucleosis Female Bladder Infection Wart Treatment Cold Sores Poison Ivy Impetigo

Appointments are not required and maximum waiting times will not exceed 15 minutes. In cases where waiting times are encountered, a beeper service is utilized to notify the customer to return to the center for service. This allows waiting customers the ability to roam around the store and purchase our host's products.

The fee for the diagnosis and prescription is paid by the patient, their employer (self-insured corporations), or a covering insurance plan such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield. According to the New York Times, a visit to the doctor's office averages $109 while emergency room services average $328. Summit Health's Wellness Center & Clinic provides consumers a convenient, economical, and quick service while maintaining a high level of quality. Next to the Wellness Center & Clinic, will be a pharmacy where the patient can have their prescription filled thus adding to the convenience of this service.
