Our Partner, Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) supports over 1,600 Patient Service Centers nationwide. Doctors routinely send their patients to the LabCorp Patient Service Centers for specimen collection. LabCorp has opened their entire network to Summit Health.
A list of LabCorp Patient Service Centers can be found at www.labcorp.com/psc/index.html. This site provides a search page to help employees select by zip code a "Blood Draw Center" that is located near their home (or workplace). The Center selected is where the employee goes to have a small sample of blood drawn by a nurse or phlebotomist. Normally an appointment is not required. A Blood Draw and Lab Test Authorization form from Summit Health is necessary. Usually the wait, if any, is very short and the blood draw itself usually takes less than five minutes.
Interpretive risk analysis is available within two weeks after the blood draw via a comprehensive report mailed to the patient. Prior to the report being mailed to the patient, a Physician reviews each individual’s laboratory results. In the event an employee triggers a critical laboratory value, a Summit Health Medical staff contacts the employee immediately after receiving the results from the laboratory.
The comprehensive report mailed to the patient shows the actual laboratory results and an interpretation of the results.
